特刊:Circular Economy for Promoting Energy Recovery
期刊:Discover Sustainability
客座编辑:Bohong Wang, Keng Yinn Wong, Huiyi Tan & Pei Ying Ong
The main point of Circular Economy (CE) is organizing economic activities into a loop process of "resource-product-renewable resources" to reduce, reuse, and recycle in production, circulation, and consumption. Materials and energy can be reasonably and sustainably utilized in this continuous economic cycle to minimize the impact of economic activities on the natural environment.
Energy recovery and utilization is an effective method to promote the CE. Through energy storage, energy conversion, and other forms, the energy can be utilized and avoid waste, thus reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development. There are many methods for energy recovery, including waste heat recovery, exhaust gas recovery, wastewater recovery, and renewable energy sources recovery (e.g., solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy). How to improve recycling efficiency and explore new recycling channels to better promote the circular economy is one of the main issues we are concerned about.

特刊:Earth, Isotopes and Organics
期刊:Progress in Earth and Planetary Science
客座编辑:Yoshinori Takano, Yoshito Chikaraishi, Thomas Blattmann, Mark Lever, Kensei Kobayashi & Yusuke Okazaki
This special issue highlights the latest scientific findings in the issues and key words of “Earth, Isotopes and Organics.” The Earth harbors the diverse elements that make up organic molecules with Carbon (C), Hydrogen (H), Nitrogen (N), Oxygen (O), Sulfur (S), and Phosphorus (P). Major inorganic elements represented by magnesium (Mg) and iron (Fe) also have important roles for biosphere. Those diverse elements have also stable and radioactive isotopes in their natural compositions. Standardization through international standard references is underway to develop highly accurate and precise analytical methodology. These highly precise isotope measurements are robust chemical tools in deciphering the interaction between biotic and abiotic factors.
Therefore, this special issue can be defined as the understanding of the life science and chemistry on the Earth (e.g., biosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere) through the representation of essential elements associated with inorganic and organic molecules in nature. In this special issues, further perspectives for state-of-the-art developments in compound-specific isotope analysis will be overviewed for next decadal progresses.

特刊:Gender-Based Violence and Mental Health
期刊:Discover Mental Health
客座编辑:Pasquale Caponnetto & Vittorio Lenzo
Our primary objective is to publish scholarly works focusing on gender-based violence and the psychological implications surrounding it, with a specific emphasis on mental health. We welcome contributions that delve into the various dimensions of gender-based violence, exploring its impact on individuals' psychological well-being. Our goal is to provide a platform that highlights research addressing the complex intersections of gender-based violence and mental health, fostering a deeper understanding of the associated challenges and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in this critical area.
We invite submissions that investigate the psychological dynamics, coping mechanisms, and therapeutic interventions related to gender-based violence, ultimately aiming to promote awareness and inform evidence-based practices in the field of mental health. Our aim is to welcome contributions in various formats, including original research articles, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses, all delving into the intricate topic of gender-based violence and mental health.

特刊:Regenerative and Orthobiologics
期刊:Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology
客座编辑:Giorgio Maria Calori
The field of regenerative medicine has had great attention from both researchers and clinicians during the past decades. The need to restore tissue loss secondary to trauma, fragility, tumour excision and debridement due to infection is ever growing. This increase demand is due to the fact that elderly people live longer (life span has increased) and there has been also improved survival rates of patients following treatment of neoplastic disease and severe traumatic injury.
This collection will cover the latest advances in the field of regenerative medicine, with the aim of providing up-to-date knowledge to assist clinicians in making the correct decisions in their practice dealing with difficult cases of tissue damage and need for regeneration.

特刊:Bryophytes resilience to environmental factors
期刊:Scientific Reports
客座编辑:Claudia Colesie & Grzegorz J. Wolski
Bryophytes are a widespread group of non-vascular land plants, such as liverworts, hornworts and mosses, capable of colonising a variety of habitats, including rocks or low-nutrient soils. These plants contribute to the overall balance of ecosystems, not only as important sources of oxygen, but some bryophyte species, like Sphagnum, are also major carbon reservoirs. Bryophytes are however highly dependent on atmospheric conditions and recent predictions suggest that they are unlikely to be able to cope with an increasingly faster global warming rate.
This Collection invites submissions of original research on the effects of environmental factors and habitat conditions on bryophytes, from plant physiological and molecular responses to changing environments, to ecological and conservation studies.

特刊:Excitons in complex chemical systems
期刊:Scientific Reports
客座编辑:Glib Baryshnikov & Michael N. Leuenberger
Excitons in complex chemical systems are becoming a vibrant research area in physics and materials communities, owing to their critical role in applications like photovoltaics, LEDs, and quantum technology. More recently, researchers have noticed that the existing Wannier and Frenkel models cannot sufficiently describe excitonic behaviours in unit cells of nanocrystals or molecules in macromolecules or molecular aggregates. Moreover, the specific effects of these excitonic behaviours, including exciton-vibrational coupling, mixed exciton-charge transfer (CT) states, spontaneous exciton dissociation, and many-body exciton, remain elusive. To close the knowledge gap for exciton in complex chemical systems, new theoretical and experimental frameworks have been proposed to comprehend the properties of excitons, in particular their dynamics, line shapes, and energy landscapes. This themed collection aims to spotlight recent progress in the dynamics and kinetics of excitons in molecular and nanostructured systems.
